Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is made by reacting chlorine with a sodium hydroxide solution. These two reactants are the major co-products of most chlor-alkali cells. Sodium hypochlorite, commonly called bleach, has various uses and is an excellent disinfectant/antimicrobial agent.
