Labisia pumila, indigenous to Malaysia, belongs to the Primulaceae family. It is a herbaceous shrub with creeping rhizomes. Plant thrives in shady places. Normally propagated through seeds in the nursery under high humidity and shade. Whole part of the plant can be used as herb.

Traditionally used by generations of Malay women by decoction. Decoction drink can induce and facilitate childbirth, as well as being a post partum medication to help contract birth, to tone abdominal muscles and regain body strength.

Kacip Fatimah: Rich in Phytoestrogen and Isoflavones

Supplementing with Labisia Pumila demonstrated effects similar to those of estrogen replacement therapy on reproductive hormones. The study revealed that a 60-day regimen of Labisia Pumila significantly decreased luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), while simultaneously increasing estradiol and testosterone levels.
